Ag Marketing IQ: Farmers with grain in on-farm storage have three options to capture the carry, additional opportunities to re-own the crop to grab a future price rally and plenty of incentive to lock in corn sales now.

The 2025 harvest is flying by. Many in east central Illinois area are wrapping up and the Corn Belt is well ahead of average. With the extreme dryness many are facing, the crop raced to the finish line this year. The only other year many can remember finishing this early is 2012.

The big difference between this year and 2012 is that yields are roughly double! Even with the dry finish we’ve seen, most farmers are pleased with the crop. The question many face now is this:
