Ben grew up in an agricultural community in southern Minnesota. His father was a vocational agriculture teacher who greatly influenced Ben and his four brothers to take up professions in the agriculture industry. Ben graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelor of Science.  

He joined Advance Trading in 1990 and focuses on commercial grain merchandising within the country elevator industry. Ben is married and has two daughters.  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and working on his rural property in Funks Grove IL.  He and his wife enjoy prairie restoration and wildlife habitat implementation and now as those projects mature,  the focus is a perennial battle of invasives.   The outdoors keeps him grounded while enjoying hunting, fishing, and working his hunting dogs.
